We have been working hard since March to make the most of the time off. The pub has been refurbished from the carpark to the bars. We were determined to make the most of the time we were closed to make us all that much better when we were allowed to open again.
Our aim of reopening is to make our staff and our customers feel as safe and welcome as possible. To achieve this the Elwes Arms will be slightly different from what we are all used to.
The main changes will be reduced capacity, enhanced cleaning procedures and we will be offering a mix of table service and service from the bar. We do ask that only 1 person per group comes to the bar to order whilst maintaining a safe distance.
To help keep everyone safe we are encouraging contactless payments where possible however, we will take cash if necessary.
We have increased the amount of cleaning and staff members will be regularly doing the rounds to sanitise touchpoints throughout the day.
Although we have reduced our table capacity we are lucky that we have our covered outdoor seating areas as well as the garden, so there should be plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.
Our opening hours are 12 pm to 11:30 pm every day and out kitchen hours until 9 pm.
It will not be essential to book but this is advised for all diners. It is important to note that due to reduced table capacity, if there are no available tables then we will be at capacity and you will not be able to enter the premises but can wait outside seated or standing in the garden and on the patio areas.
We can currently accommodate bookings of 8 people from 2 different households (including support bubbles) please be responsible and adhere to the governments social distancing guidelines when coming to visit us.
Children are welcome but must remain seated unless they need the toilet in which case they must be accompanied by an adult. We ask that whenever you need to move around the pub, to the bar or to the toilet, you maintain a safe distance from other customers at all times.
We allow quiet, behaved dogs in the garden, but they must remain on a lead at all times and not interact with other customers.
Upon arrival, you will need to provide contact details, full name, email address and phone number of the lead guest in your party so we can assist the government’s effort in their track and trace systems. Your details will remain secure and will be destroyed after 21 days.
There will be information displayed throughout the pub to keep people aware of our COVID-19 related measures.
In keeping with the guidance and to reduce the risk of transmission customers are asked to not sing or raise their voices, so quiet cheering or crying depending on your team only, please!
We want everyone to enjoy our time with us but we need to be strictly adhering to the guidelines so please work with us. We know there is a lot take in. We all need to keep the Elwes a safe and happy environment at all times and we are all in this challenge together.
We are certainly looking forward to having you all back. But remember if you’re unwell please stay at home!
